Awarded his Doctor of Engineering degree, he currently mentors graduate students as a Master's Supervisor and holds editorial positions including Youth Editorial Board Member of “Advanced Powder Materials” and Associate Youth Editor of “Materials Research and Application”. Recognized as a World Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University (2022-2024), Dr. Yan has received prestigious honors including the 7th Youth Talent Support Program from China Association for Science and Technology and Category C High-level Talent in Guangdong Academy of Sciences' "Hundred Talents Program". His groundbreaking research in laser additive manufacturing of high-performance materials has yielded over 80 SCI-indexed publications with 4,400+ citations, 30+ invention patents as first inventor, and leadership in developing 4 national standards/10 group standards. As Principal Investigator, he has directed major scientific programs including National Key Research and Development Program of China sub-tasks and The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants, while collaborating with industry on 10+ applied R&D projects, earning two Second Prizes in China Nonferrous Metals Industry Science and Technology Progress Awards. Currently active in academic governance, he contributes as Committee Member of Medical Nonferrous Materials Committee at The Nonferrous Metals Society of China and Deputy Secretary-General of Guangdong Materials Research Society's Youth Committee.
