The extensive use of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has become an integral part of a number of advanced technologies like portable devices, unmanned and urban transport etc. makes the issue of increasing their efficiency an extremely important task, determining the economy thereof. The requirements imposed on LIBs materials pose researchers with complex problem of a search for а compromise between their key functional properties, commercial attractiveness, availability of raw materials, environmental friendliness and recyclability. Alongside encouranging reports on novel materails with attractive properties synthesis in a lab scale emerge constantly, the technological extent thereof faces a problem of properties reproducibility issue. Hence the demand on reliable data on the synthesis conditions of materials with preset phase and elemental composition as well as their behaviour under various parameters alteration arise. Current report summarises authors’ results on experimental and modelling phase equilibria study in the quaternary system Li-Mn-V-O and related ternary oxide systems, stable phases of which are promising materials for LIBs cathodes, as well as phase-change materials for applications like solar energy and waste heat conversion, building climate control, telecommunication and microprocessing technologies.
