High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have opened up a new field for discovering un-explored mechanical properties and deformation behaviors. In this talk, experimental and theoretical verification of chemical short-range orderings (CSROs) in HEAs will be first reviewed, and then effects of CSROs on mechanical properties and deformation behavior will be discussed. The main theme is to demonstrate that existence of CSROs is a common yet key structural feature of HEAs, and modulating CSROs represents a viable strategy for optimizing mechanical properties of HEAs. In addition, the presentation will confront challenges related to the formation mechanisms and experimental characterization of CSROs. Finally, it will propose promising future research directions in this area.
